Steve did a Ph.D. at Stanford University working on microfluidic and mechanical methods for analyzing protein interactions. Before, he studied physics, biochemistry, and biophysics at U. Penn. He then joined the Synthetic Neurobiology group to work on tools for understanding how specific cell types contribute to emergent neural dynamics. He then went on to explore the space of biotech startups.
