Jun Deguchi received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Machine Intelligence and Systems Engineering, and Ph.D. degree in Bioengineering and Robotics from Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan, in 2001, 2003 and 2006, respectively. His dissertation was a study of implantable retinal prosthesis chips. In 2004, he was a Visiting Scholar to do research on retinal prosthesis chips at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In 2006, he joined the Center for Semiconductor Research and Development, Toshiba Corporation, Kawasaki, Japan. Since then he has been engaged in design of RF/analog circuits for wireless communications and CMOS image sensors. He worked on various methods of neural interfacing during his time in the group.
